The Digital UX and Creative Director will be responsible for strategically leading the Digital Design Studio team in creating compelling, on brand digital content and user experiences (UX) for Giant Tiger’s digital channels including the website, email and social. This position primarily focuses on managing the Digital Design Studio Team and the outputs of the team while also producing the vision for long term strategies ensuring marketing and business goals are achieved. In this role the Digital UX and Creative Director will also own the roadmap, strategy and governance for executing a best in class user experience (UX).   In this role, they will own the user experience and visual design of Giant Tiger’s digital properties and marketing..

The Digital UX and Creative Director is a highly cross functional worker leveraging input from all areas of the organization as in this role the Digital UX and Creative Director will work collaboratively with Site Experience, Digital Marketing, Digital Product Management, Category Management and Marketing teams to ensure that digital content adheres to brand guidelines, supports corporate Marketing strategies and creates a cohesive experience across all channels.

This role can be completely remote, as per the candidate’s preference.

Leadership and People Management

  • Build, lead and manage the Digital Design Studio team (Graphic Designers, Copywriters and UX designers) to deliver content that brings the Giant Tiger brand to life digitally

  • Make recommendations on resourcing requirements to scale with the business

  • Manage training and development needs for the Digital Design Studio team

  • Develop and maintain an agile team culture with a focus on fostering a collaborative, transparent and creatively curious environment

  • Act as the subject matter expert for visual design and UX at Giant Tiger

Strategy, Planning and Reporting

  • Own the UX strategy and roadmap

  • Manage projects with third party partners by making sure business requirements are captured and goals are aligned with the GT Digital strategy

  • Present concepts and ideas to the Digital Leadership team

  • Develop and/or provide input on business cases for executive review and alignment

  • Take an active role in the recommendation of future digital improvements through an understanding of trends and site metrics

  • Work directly with Product Management team to design functional elements of Giant Tiger’s digital platforms and marketing

  • Monitor and report on key UX metrics

  • Monitor and report on design SLAs continuously striving to improve lead times

Execution – Digital Assets, Design and UX

  • Maintain a strong understanding of digital design and UX best practices, standards, tools, new technologies and trends

  • Set a creative vision and standard for the Digital Design Studio Team

  • Responsible for the quality and delivery of all digital creative assets

  • Review copy, design and UX concepts, layouts, and approve final assets

  • Ensure messaging is consistent across all digital channels

  • Ensure content has strong SEO value

  • Collaborate with the Digital Product team to ensure product development is both design and customer focused

  • Create and maintain cross departmental processes, workflows and SLAs continuously improving the operating model

  • Use research and data to inform content strategies for the website, including but not exclusive to the homepage, landing pages, blogs and the overall UX

  • Collaborate with the Site Operations and Digital Marketing teams on digital asset creation and design

  • Collaborate with Category Managers, Digital Marketing and Marketing teams on executing the corporate Marketing plans, ensuring content is delivered on brand

  • Ensure content is compliant with accessibility standards

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelors’ degree in Marketing, Advertising, Design or a related field.

  • 10+ years experience creating digital content (in-house or agency)

  • 5+ years experience directly managing design and/ or UX teams preferably in ecommerce

  • A portfolio illustrating your ability to deliver on brand digital content

  • Experience in both Agile and Scrum

  • Previous experience planning, monitoring and managing a budget
