Email Marketing Manager

Viking is looking for an accomplished marketer, with a minimum of seven years’ experience, to own the end to end creation and execution of effective email marketing strategies that drive engagement and convert bookings.

This hands-on role requires a candidate who understands the metrics that are important to achieving our business objectives. A creative thinker to drive a sophisticated email marketing strategy that successfully influences our customer whilst adding a strategic lens to ensure the continual optimisation of campaigns to generate results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the direct to consumer EDM strategy, campaign execution, content creation and platform management
  • Design short and long term EDM plans that focus on the customer journey and successfully move guests through the funnel whilst driving financial outcomes
  • Plan, build and schedule email campaigns that engage and motivate consumers using Oracle Responsys Marketing Cloud
  • Create and optimise EDM website landing pages, working in collaboration with the digital marketing manager
  • Lead campaign analytics and optimisations to improve performance and identify improvements for future campaigns with regular analysis and weekly reporting
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and priorities and manage resources to deliver on these
  • Plan and build new campaign workflows for re-targeting/automated programs – including personalisation and customisation of messaging, segmentation, timing selection, if/then scenarios, and automated tasks
  • Develop and execute lead generation strategy and programs, working in collaboration with the digital marketing team to execute across digital and traditional channels
  • Work with data team locally and in head office to continually manage/maintain a clean email database and ensure successful onboarding of all new leads into Responsys
  • Manage the regular Mosaic tagging of sales data to track and identify changes and trends in current consumers and our key Mosaic profile groups
  • Develop and execute a past passenger email marketing strategy that drives retention, advocacy and lifetime customer value
  • Work with the director of strategy and insights to undertake regular surveying/research of the PPAX database
  • Thought leadership – staying up to date with key platform releases and enhancements

Required Skills & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Intermediate HTML knowledge
  • At least seven years’ work experience in a marketing role including at least four years email marketing experience, with demonstrated success in creating high-impact, unique marketing campaigns
  • Hands-on experience working with complex EDM platforms
  • Excellent copywriting skills and ability to produce well-crafted and engaging content
  • Experience in optimising HTML code and content for both mobile and desktop environments
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experience in interpreting and using effective customer segmentation
  • An analytical yet creative thinker with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Attention to detail and can ensure the accuracy of campaigns implemented
  • Able to multitask and work to multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Enjoys a fast-paced work environment and be able to adapt quickly to business needs
  • Self-motivated with a desire to continually learn and grow
  • A demonstrated strong work ethic with a can-do attitude

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in Oracle Responsys and Adobe Marketo
  • Knowledge of Javascript
  • Understanding of the travel industry
