Energy Performances Services (EPS) Inc. (“EPS”), incorporated in 1992, has specialized in industrial energy management for over 29 years. EPS works with large energy using industrial organizations in North America to establish continuous improvement systems for energy. Forms of energy management that EPS specializes in include: Strategic Energy Management (SEM) programs, Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS), and Energy Management Systems such as ISO 50001.


As part of the Energy Management Information System (EMIS) team at EPS, the Energy Analyst will support the delivery of EMIS projects to multiple large industrial clients. EPS is a pioneer in bringing advanced energy management information to large energy users enabling decision-making control over energy. The focus of this role is serve as an Energy Analyst to support the development and implementation of EMIS projects in industrial facilities.

Specific tasks of the Energy Analyst will include:

  • Develop EMIS audits by identifying new information strategies through real-time Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), management reports, and analytical tools using strategic metering.
  • Implement an energy management strategy and build EMIS business cases (for more information, please refer to the EMIS Planning Manual and Tool
  • Implement EMIS projects by supporting the installation and configuration of metering and data capture systems within existing industrial networks (equipment, PLCs, HMIs, data historians, etc.), as well as configure EMIS reports and enable operational control of energy.
  • Operate EMIS while working closely with key plant personnel using information, via dashboards, charts, tables, models and/or any other relevant data analysis methods to drive ongoing EMIS energy savings from operational and maintenance (O&M) control.
  • Perform Measurement and Verification (M&V) by tracking and communicating energy performance with clients on a regular basis, using multivariate regression models and/or other engineering calculations and develop periodic energy savings reports while conforming to a recognized M&V protocol.
  • Analyze energy performance (production intensity, downtime energy, peak demand, etc.) within industrial facilities to develop key insights and identify potential sources of energy savings.
  • Provide support (technical and project management) to clients to find, validate, develop and implement energy savings opportunities in industrial systems (compressors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, etc.) and processes.
  • Interact with the clients via teleconferencing, in person and on site.
  • Manage project budgets, deliverables, resources, timelines, KPIs, etc.
  • Deliver energy savings.


The following skills are required for an effective Energy Analyst:

  • 2-5 year(s) of experience in energy management and data analysis.
  • Experience in data analysis, including cleaning data, summary statistics, visual analysis, model generation, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge enabling in-depth understanding of various industrial processes and systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to read, write and speak both in English and French.
  • Strong communication skills – facilitate group conversations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work as part of a team.
  • Autonomous and results oriented.
  • Passionate about energy management and sustainability.
  • Knowledge of industrial hardware and software such as PLCs, HMIs, data historians (asset).
  • Experience in an industrial environment (asset).
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R (asset).
  • Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) (asset).
