ABOUT THE ROLE
WeCommerce is looking for a People Administrator to be a key member of our growing team, acting as the lead administrator of our team programs, benefits, and perks. You will be directly supporting a team of approximately 30 (and growing fast!) across 5 portfolio companies in Canada and the United States, while working closely with the People Ops teams at our larger portfolio companies. This role will be deeply involved in our team’s employee experience, ensuring everyone is supported from their very first WeCommerce interaction. We are a 100% remote work environment with team members across Canada and the United States, offering competitive compensation and benefits.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Onboarding and off-boarding team members to all people programs, policies, and org-wide platforms or tools
- Acting as the primary contact to our outsourced payroll providers for Canadian and US entities, initiating setup for new employees, communicating updates and revisions, and assisting employees in accessing online payroll portals
- Managing our benefits programs in both Canada and the US, including enrolment, benefits renewal, leave of absence management and benefits compliance
- Assisting in the recruitment and hiring processes through drafting job descriptions and postings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and giving input into final decision making
- Championing a culture of respect and collaboration through various activities including virtual/in-person team building or learning, acknowledging anniversaries and significant events, and promoting wellness initiates and perks
- Maintaining accurate employee files and People Ops resources such as job descriptions, task overviews, and contact lists
- Maintaining employee information for the company’s stock option and share-based compensation plan administered by Computershare
- Administrating online e-learning enrolment for new employees and contractors
- Collaborating with internal team members to draft and update employee policies and HR procedures
- Supporting internal teams with ad hoc and routine requests for people data (headcount, payroll reporting, etc)
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in Business/Accounting/Human Resources, and/or training completed towards an HR designation
- 2+ years’ experience in HR Administration or a similar role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a natural desire to be of service to others
- Previous experience in payroll administration
- Experience writing and implementing policies and procedures
- Strong ability to be a self-starter, work independently and autonomously
- Tech Savvy, with strong knowledge of various technical & HRIS platforms (e.g. Office365, Google Suite, ADP, Gusto)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously (remote work experience an asset)
- Previous experience successfully managing sensitive, confidential information is an asset
