Post-Production Manager

Vidico

About the job

If you’re working in the post-production landscape; passionate about bringing great stories together, and leaving your mark in the tech/creative world, this is the role for you.

We are looking for a well-rounded Post-Production Manager with strong organisational and client management skills to join our fast-growing team at Vidico.

Post-Production Managers review all work – design and video – before it’s delivered to our clients. They give the green-light when work is on-brief and ready for client review, or provide actionable and timely feedback to our creative post-production teams if additional adjustments are required.

You’ll be teaming up with some of the very best talent in video production, creative and animation in the country; from explainer video projects to commercials viewed by millions.

This role will be based in Melbourne, with remote-working options available.

Where have I heard of Vidico?

We are a full-service video-production agency that’s on the rise.

  • We work with some of the coolest companies in the world: Square, Spotify, Uber, Airtable, Amazon, Bailey Nelson, Koala, The Oodie and Temple & Webster to name a few.
  • There’s a 99% likelihood you’ve seen (and chuckled at) our ads on Youtube/TV in Australia.
  • Our television campaigns across Australia and the U.S. have generated over 1.3 billion views.
  • In our entire history of operation, we’ve never had anything other than a five-star rating across all platforms.
  • In the last year, Vidico’s team has doubled in size and with that so has the opportunity for growth, learning and development.

What will I work on?

Working closely with our creative production team, the Post-Production Manager will have an extensive reach into many creative projects, bringing their experience and understanding of how to take each video to the next level.

You will oversee and lead on all things post-production, from briefing the editor, to managing feedback rounds, to creative ideation, and to handing over the final assets to our clients. You will aim to ensure a smooth project process from end-to end.

You will run a close eye over each edit and provide feedback to our internal team to ensure the brief and client requirements have been met. With the overarching aim to create an optimal post-production experience – ensuring that clients are well-informed and the ‘Vidi-fam’ can do their best work at all times.

Upholding our high-quality standards and ensuring delivery timelines can be met will be a vital aspect of your role as our Post-Production Manager. You will help ensure we have a well-functioning post-production team, where everyone has clarity on their objectives, and are well equiped to execute on the brief effectively.

As the go-to-person for everything post-production related, you will be managing activities such as editing briefs and techniques, post-production resourcing, creative templates, and training materials. Driving the final stages of the project, you will help ensure a great client journey, including the management of feedback, as well as the handover.

With a proven track record in a video-production role, this role will suit someone with a flexible approach to video styles, but with a firm understanding of core editing principles and technical literacy.

If you were at Vidico last week, you’d be…

  • Directing Post; this will make up the majority of what you’ll be doing on a day-to-day basis. Coordinating the editors, and managing feedback to get the very best out of each edit: through in-office brainstorms and review and approval tools like Frame.IO.
  • Briefing Creatives; congregating the right team for each project means selecting the editors, designers, animators, sound designers and briefing them so they’re all aligned on the project’s unique approach and desired creative outcomes.
  • Communicating with Clients; actioning and responding to client requests, and setting the proper expectations around what can be achieved inside the given scope of the project.
  • Leading a Team; you’ll have the opportunity to coordinate and manage a post-production team. Oversee regular team-meetings and project reviews.
  • On-Set; Availability for active roles on-set as an AD or director are available; collaborating with a team of 15 people on some of our commercial shoots. Calmness under pressure, and clear communication is essential.

What will I bring?

High level of organisation skills, alongside excellent written communications ability:

  • Genuine interest and appreciation for storytelling, as this is at the heart of what we bring to the commercial content space.
  • Managing multiple delivery schedules, processes, and competing commercial and internal priorities each day.
  • Prioritisation across tasks, and the ability to delegate to a producer or production assistant
  • Using your keen understanding of brand and story to elevate the project’s creative approach
  • Exceptional product knowledge and deep understanding of our production processes
  • The ability to think outside the box and arrive at new or customised approaches to our clients’ deliverables.
  • Presentation of post-production materials (designs, edit, animation) in a clear and confident manner

A broad range of client-facing experience and relationship-building skills:

  • Confident in setting and managing client expectations
  • Meeting production milestones in accordance with a timeline
  • Proactive in foreseeing client needs, and strategic priorities while nurturing long-term relationships

Team Leadership and collaboration skills:

  • This role will work in a team of 5-6 on a daily basis; our vibe is very genuine, helpful and positive!
  • Work with key stakeholders and supplier to ensure the creative fits the needs of their business area.
  • Open opportunity to take part in directing or assistant directing video shoots

Post-production and asset delivery experience:

  • Work to a given media brief and deliver all the required assets
  • Manage client feedback
  • Oversee work and quality of the post-production team

Experience and education:

  • Minimum 5-6+ years of relevant work experience in an agency or production company
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Experience with popular project management tools (Asana, Monday, Basecamp)
  • Diligent with setting timelines through the PM tools above and managing client expectations as a result
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets and Dropbox Paper experience would also be a huge plus
