About the Tax Accountant opportunity

As the current expansion is widely among the team, ASW is looking for a high calibre professional to fill the role of Tax Accountant. You will prepare and oversee Australian tax returns and accounts.

This is an opportunity to be part of a leading Australian firm that provides independent accounting services to funds. They currently service in excess of 230 funds across 80 investment managers covering hedge funds, fixed income, credit, property, agriculture, currency, long-only equity, fund of funds, listed investment companies and commodity funds. This role will significantly deliver assistance to their onshore team in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and lodgement of income tax returns & year-end calculations
• Supporting the Tax Manager in the development of tax policies and procedures
• Distribution calculation and tax statements process
• Provision of tax advice covering GST and income tax to clients
• Address complex issues, ad hoc projects & process improvements

Qualifications and Attributes

• 2-5 years of General Accounting and Tax Experience – Trust Taxation or Fund Accounting Taxation
• Relevant qualifications in accounting and/or finance (CPA/CA qualified or willing to study CPA/CA preferred)
• Microsoft Excel and Word skills
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Be able to demonstrate process improvements – questioning not accepting
• Effective stakeholder management
• A team player and also able to work independently
