Inside 92,000 Careers: Member Intelligence at Global Scale

CPA Australia engaged Cturtle to pilot a living intelligence layer across a 92,000-member cohort — drawn from its 176,000-strong global membership — delivering continuous, searchable insight across career journeys, education pathways, employer sectors, salary trends, ESG credentials, and advanced member segmentation.

The challenge

Professional membership bodies hold rich member records — yet remain largely blind to what their members actually do in the world. Where are they working today? How have they moved between sectors over time? Are they engaged with ongoing education? Are ESG credentials shaping career trajectories?

Without a continuous data layer, these questions go unanswered. CPA Australia needed more than a point-in-time snapshot. They needed a complete, searchable picture of member careers at scale — one that updated continuously and could be interrogated across any combination of dimension.

“We are able see the full arc of a member’s career: from where they studied and how they progressed, to where they are today and where they are heading. This insight enables us to better support members with targeted learning, personalised experiences, and services that align to their evolving career goals.”

Career journeys: from education to leadership

AlumniPro mapped the full arc of each member’s professional life — from undergraduate institution and field of study, through postgraduate and MBA participation, into early career roles, CPA attainment, and onwards to current seniority and employer category.

Career mobility across employer sectors

One of the most valuable capabilities is tracking how members move between employer categories over the course of their careers — revealing patterns across government, MNCs, SMEs, startups, and not-for-profits that no survey could surface at this scale.

Sustainability, ESG, and dual credentials

A dedicated ESG layer tracks members holding sustainability credentials, ESG certifications, and dual professional memberships — giving CPA Australia a clear picture of the fast-growing cohort bridging finance and sustainability roles. Other professional memberships tracked alongside CPA status include CA ANZ, ACCA, CIMA, AICD, and FINSIA.

Ongoing education and highest degree

AlumniPro tracks members’ ongoing study — including institution, field of study, and degree level. This lets CPA Australia understand which academic pathways are most active across its membership and which partner institutions carry the strongest alumni pipeline into CPA status.

What lives in the dashboard

The Power BI dashboard gives CPA Australia a live, filterable view across all intelligence dimensions — accessible to strategy, membership, and advocacy teams with no technical setup required.
