POSITION TITLE:
Human Resources Payroll Advisor
PRIMARY ROLE:
The Advisor is a generalist involved in several aspects related to onboarding, some training, policy, procedure & instructions, benefits administration, HR metrics and employee relations in addition to payroll for hourly and salaried payroll processing through a web based HRIS system.
Through the application of management tools and knowledge of employment legislation, the Advisor will apply sound, un-bias judgment, knowledge, and experience on day-to-day Human Resource matters while providing support to the corporate workforce and the VP in resolving complex, unusual or difficult cases or situations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Bi-weekly payroll processing for hourly and salaried payrolls; (current platform RisePeople)
- Undertakes a full range of functions with some limitations for recruitment, selection, and appointment for the CDN Manufacturing Team and CDN salaried personnel
- Contributes to the development/implementation and monitoring of corporate policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and HR management practices
- Both independently and in consultation with the VP, provide an advisory service to all staff on workplace relations including EHS matters
- Provides employee relations for manufacturing employees and crossover to office staff as required (including disciplinary action)
- Administers the Group Benefits plan including extended health care (medical, dental, vision care, life & optional life insurance), RRSP, LTD & SUB plans.
- Prepares annual compensation analysis for hourly employees; consult with VP Operations, gain approval on research/agreement with VP HR & initiate annual review for acceptance with CEO
- Facilitates the new CEO employee orientation program (at a minimum quarterly)
- Maintains/Reports on Human Resource database and headcount spreadsheets
- Maintains Employment Equity (familiarity with NOC codes is an asset), makes salary and/or wage recommendations. Gains VP approval on any wage/salary outside approved levels.
- Involved in disability / return-to-work programs through WCB
- Responsible for corporate organization charts
RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTION:
- This position interacts with all members of the Canadian Corporation and will interface with select members of the USA and China entities.
EDUCATION/experience:
- Post -Secondary education is preferred
- Human Resources and/or Payroll certification or equivalent
- Facilitation and/or training experience is considered an asset
- Seasoned knowledge in the application of contemporary HR procedures and practices
- Ability to interpret legislation, regulations as related to employment and payroll
- Able to contribute to the development/implementation of new policies, procedures, training initiatives and programs
- Benefits Administration
- Compensation Analysis as may be assigned
- Payroll Administration including year end
Competencies:
- Engaging communication/inter-personal skills, including interviewing, counseling, negotiating, and report writing’
- Ability to interact/interface with management as well as all levels of the organization including and primarily hourly personnel
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, including Power Point
