KOTO - Know One, Teach One

Welcome to KOTO and thank you for offering to dedicate your time, skills and enthusiasm to our
organization!

KOTO consists of two branches of operations
– Foundation: which is the ‘charity’ sector, based around trainees, their education and welfare and donations and sponsor driven funding;
– Enterprise: the ‘business’ sector of our model, a social enterprise designed to raise internal revenue to pay for our overheads and drive funds into the foundation side of the organization.

The Training department at KOTO is responsible for delivering the accredited hospitality training (Box Hill Institute, Melbourne) as well as the KOTO English curriculum and Life skills training. The training department is an integral part of KOTO, ensuring our trainees are job ready and skilled before graduating from the 2-year program.

Project: Training Mentor

Main activities:

● Contribute to the development of the capacity building project plan, and its outcomes
● In conjunction with the Foundation Director and Curriculum development and Quality Manager, lead the review and documentation of the curriculum and assessment system (and its integration)- Certificate III in commercial cookery and
hospitality operations, Internship, Life Skills, Vocational English, and Computer Skillshow it is documented, and provide improvement recommendations. This activity will include developing options for the international benchmarking of the Vocational English course, and ensuring all Certificate III assessments meet Training Package and Box Hill Institute requirements
● In conjunction with the Foundation Director and Curriculum development and Quality Manager, lead the development and documentation of improved trainee assessment and monitoring and evaluation system so that it meets Box Hill Institute’s quality assurance reporting requirements
● Implement and review individual and group training, coaching and mentoring activities for Training Department staff. This activity will include leadership for re-establishing and facilitating the annual training program at Box Hill Institute
● Assist individual training staff to complete Box Hill RPL, gap training and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment activities
● Produce a draft review report of this capacity building project and it’s outcomes

Objectives

● Improved training department capacity and performance, through successful completion of specified project tasks
● Improved training staff capacity and performance through implementation of specified coaching and mentoring activities
● Improved curriculum and monitoring and evaluation systems
● To ensure the inclusion of all people directly affected by the volunteer assignment in the course of your work with the host organization and host community, including implementing strategies that relate to:
o promoting gender equality and empowering women,
o disability inclusion, and
o Child safeguarding.

A large component of the assignment will be refurbishing the training program to
improve its inclusiveness for identified persons and criteria
You will report to Ms Hanh, Foundation Director and also liaise with Ms Binh, Curriculum development
and quality Manager and other training department team members.
