The Hook
UNRIVALLED OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN STUNNING NEW ART RETAILER
- Disruptive, beautiful new omnichannel art concept
- Four Central London store openings Summer 2022
- Exciting career progression opportunities, both UK and international
About us
The Hook was established in 2021 as a revolutionary new art retail concept which takes advanced contemporary retail techniques and applies them to what has traditionally been a stuffy, intimidating industry. We offer our clients a seamless, integrated in-store and online buying experience to match that of the very best luxury brands.
After detailed design and branding work, we launched The Hook in an iconic space in Spitalfields in May 2022. Our core target market is affluent urban millennials, but our artwork and branding have a broad appeal. Our client base includes different demographics and 30% of sales are to international customers.
The Hook has secured substantial financial backing and is planning aggressive growth over the next five years. Our exciting plans will offer unrivalled career progression opportunities, both in the UK and internationally, either within our stores or as part of our other teams (artist recruitment and management, ecommerce, brand and marketing, Head Office).
As the first phase of our growth journey, we are opening a further three stores in the next three months and are seeking highly motivated, ambitious, personable in-store staff to drive our launch.
We offer competitive salaries, pension and non-contributory health insurance plus uncapped commission. At target sales levels, you can expect commission around 30% of your base salary.
About the role (one to two positions available)
Store managers take full responsibility for the day to day running of one of our four Central London stores. You will develop lasting close relationships with discerning art buyers while leading a team of art consultants. In addition to achieving your own sales targets, you will be responsible for:
- Managing, leading, and training a team of 2-3 art consultants;
- Merchandising the store with frequent art re-hangs;
- Ordering weekly from our manufacturing and logistics partners;
- Liaising with artists on the narrative behind their works and store visits/exhibitions;
- Co-ordinating with our ecommerce and administrative teams to provide a seamless customer experience.
About you
Candidates for the position of store manager must be effervescent, extroverted individuals with high EQ who enjoy meeting discerning people from different walks of life. You will have first-rate interpersonal skills and be a very good listener, whilst unafraid to close a sale. Selling art is a protracted process; a low volume industry which requires patience, determination, and plentiful self-starting.
You will have significant luxury goods retail experience where the sales role is consultative rather than mere order taking.
